HALLOWED GROUND: Class of 2011 Graduation Ceremony Held at Stadium, People Walk on Football Field

The $650,000 spent on bleachers and a press box were put to good use for a few hours recently when the 2011 BK graduation ceremony was held at the school’s stadium.  The site of less than 20  football games and a handful of track meets annually, the stingily protected “football field”  has been strictly off-limits for other events such as the school’s largest sport — lacrosse.

For many senior lacrosse athletes, the graduation ceremony was the first time they were ever allowed on the "football field" at B.K.

A nice crowd enjoyed the brisk spring morning and celebrated a great academic achievement by the latest group of graduates. The Idaho Statesman provided great coverage here. There was plenty of room for anyone who wanted to attend, and staging the event “on campus” was judged by many to be a feel good move. Here’s to the new AlumKnights, and here’s to opening some minds — and the gates — to this underused outdoor sporting venue.
