SATURDAY KNIGHTS: Frontier Conference Showdown Features Two BK Alums
Danny Schaffled and the Bulldogs Host Brock Hyder and the Northern Lights
UPDATE: Montana State University-Northern won this contest, 20-3. Congrats to both BK boys representing the Black & Gold on the gridiron at the collegiate level.
Saturday afternoon’s battle between the University of Montana-Western and Montana State University-Northern will feature a pair of former BK standouts — on opposite teams. Both former Knights are starters for their respective teams, but they won’t likely be on the field at the same time.
Danny Schaffeld (BK ’08) will be at offensive tackle for the UM-Western Bulldogs, while Brock Hyder (BK ’09) will start at offensive guard for MSU-Northern Lights. Schaffeld (6-3, 285) is in his third year at Western, while Hyder (6-1, 265)enters his second season at Northern. The Bulldogs are favored in the contest, while Northern will attempt to pick up an upset road victory in the Frontier Conference opener.
The game will be webcast at www.KPQX.com at 1 p.m.
The next week (Sept. 4), Schaffeld will face another former teammate when Montana Western plays at Idaho State University. The Bengals roster includes RB Stew Tracy (BK ’06).
