Tim Brennan (BK ‘77) has been selected as the new head football coach of the Caldwell Cougars, according to the Caldwell School District. Brennan replaces Matt Strong, a longtime Brennan associate who may have a role in the new regime.
“If he has the ti
me and wants to be involved I will definitely want him in the program,” Brennan said of his one-time nemesis when the Knights and Cougars ruled the Southern Idaho Conference. “Matt’s a great coach and I would want to find a role for him, you bet.”
“Football is football and coaching is coaching,” said Brennan when asked about his feelings of patrolling the sidelines for an area team other than BK. “It will be strange to coach against the Knights, but that’s something we’ll deal with later. I’m looking forward to working for the Cougars.”
Brennan will continue working at West Mifflin (PA) High through the end of the school year, but will make a brief trip to Boise and Caldwell in March. He and his wife Denise plan to move into a new home in the Boise Valley in early summer, according to Tim.
“We’re excited to be back with friends and family and all that, but I truly feel this is a coaching opportunity where great things can happen for the Caldwell High community,” said Brennan. “My experience here at West Mifflin has been awesome, and I feel it has helped prepare me for thi
s job at Caldwell. I’m looking forward to working with the students and coaches there to continue Matt’s good work in the football program.”
Denise recently announced her resignation as Executive Director of the Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers Association. “She’ll be looking for a professional challenge once we get settled,” said Brennan. “We both love big challenges and love to work hard and can’t wait to get started on this next chapter.”
