The Bishop Kelly Knights edged the Burley Bobcats on Oct. 1, 1971, in a tight contest played in Burley.  In fact, it was Homecoming for the Bobcats that night, but the visiting Knights spoiled the festivities. The Knights played their typical tough defense in the low scoring affair and managed to eke out the win.
“Wow, that’s a long time ago,” said former tackle John Lee when told of the 14,000-day anniversary.  “It seems like just 9,000 or 10,000 days ago, but not 14,000. I remember the game, and that we won.”
