NINE STRAIGHT YEARS OF PLAYOFF FOOTBALL
Bishop Kelly enters the state playoffs for the 9th straight season with Friday’s win at Middleton. Jack Parker is the third BK head coach to take the Knights into the IHSAA state playoffs during his first year at the helm. He joins Wil Overgaard and Kevan O’Hara in that category. The team’s 5-2 SIC record gives it the #3 seed and a rematch with #1 Nampa at Bulldog Bowl on Nov. 2 at 7 PM.
POST-SEASON PLAY FOR KNIGHT ALUMS.
Carroll College Fighting Saints are 9-0 as well and have secured a postseason berth in the NAIA playoffs. Punter Zach Thiry (’04) was given huge props following their win over MSU-Northern [http://carroll.edu/athletics/newsitemview.php?id=8060]. His 75-yard punt from his own end zone was one highlight, with teammate quoted as saying, “That’s Thiry for you. He’s awesome. He’s got a leg on him.” Thiry was named Frontier Conference Player of the Week earlier in the season.

The St. John’s Johnnies enter the NCAA DIII playoffs with a perfect 9-0 record. Ryan Kettner’s (’06) team plays Bethel on Nov. 10th in Collegeville, Minnesota. Kettner plays in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. It’s in the same league as the University of St. Thomas, where alum Dave Bieter (’78) played a little fullback.
Other football-playing AlumKnights are bowl eligible (Boise State), nearly bowl eligible (Colorado) or subject to the Ivy League’s continued ban on postseason football (Cornell).
MORE GYM DECORATIONS
No ban on banners at BK. The girl’s soccer team picked up the 2007 State Championship in Pocatello last month, and then the girl’s cross country team claimed the State Championship in Idaho Falls last week. Nice job, athletes!
